I want to feel God. I used to feel close to Him. I don’t feel anything. How is God love if I don’t feel loved by Him? If this describes your religious experience, you are not alone. Many saints struggled with this, too. We will share some practical advice for what to do when you don’t feel anything in prayer, conferences, or even Mass.

One of the most common and understandable fears regarding vocational discernment is the question, “What if I get it wrong?” or “What if I realize it’s not for me?” Many men and women feel called to the priesthood and religious life, but the anxiety of possibly wasting years of their lives, letting people down, or even worse, ending up in the wrong vocation completely stops them from answering this call. In this session, Thomas Lyons will share some key tips for confident discernment based on his years of vocational promotion, interviews with priests and religious about these very questions, and his own experience of feeling called to marriage after almost five years in the seminary.

Presented by: Thomas Lyons

When you look around, there’s always someone better looking than you, smarter than you, more popular than you, more athletic than you. How on earth can you believe that you’re good when there always seems to be someone better? And if you love yourself, how do you keep from looking down on other people? We’ll look at a Saint who fought Nazis, a Saint who coached soccer, and a Saint who spent thirty years addicted to opium–and never got clean–as we try to believe that Jesus really does love us exactly as we are.

Presented by: Meg Hunter-Kilmer

In 2024, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) approved a new national pastoral framework for ministries with youth and young adults called “Listen, Teach, Send.” This document, rooted in the example of Jesus Christ and inspired by the words of Pope Francis in his apostolic exhortation, “Christus Vivit,” provides pastors, pastoral ministers, parents and families, and peer leaders with episcopal guidance on the accompaniment and evangelization of young people. This session will offer participants a sense of what the new framework says and how it can be applied in the home, in the classroom, and in parish/diocesan settings.

Putting faith and virtue at the center enables us to experience the peace, joy, and freedom that the world cannot give.

The stories of the Saints can make them out to be dull and unrelatable, but the halls of heaven are as diverse as you can imagine. There are addict Saints and genius Saints and Saints with OCD, people who were wildly talented and people who were profoundly ordinary. We’ve got a Saint who texted his girlfriend and one who worked with the World Health Organization on the vaccine for leprosy. And yes, we’ve even got a surfer with his own holy cards. What all this means is that you, too, can be a Saint—with your struggles and your talents and your mental illness and your complicated family. There is nothing about you that God can’t work for good and nothing about you that could ever keep him from loving you.

It has been argued that there is no longer a monolithic “youth culture” anymore. Gone are the days when we did things one way because it “worked for everyone.” If that is true, why do we still only present youth with monolithic youth ministries? In this session, Annie Grandell will present a case for the need for the Church to build up more adults to mentor young people in smaller groups, providing formation that is customized to their needs and their questions while still holding true to the one, holy, Catholic, and apostolic Church.
