Opportunities To Make Waves of Change (2022 NCYC)

At NCYC there are various opportunities for you to be involved in conversations that will impact others. One of those opportunities may be the T-Shirt Swap hosted by Maryknoll Missionaries or if you are a minister, you may want to join a Focus Group for Ministers hosted by Ministry Training Source.

Opportunities for Participants

Maryknoll #Share4Creation T-shirt Swap

This year, Maryknoll is hosting a #Share4Creation T-shirt Swap in the Interactive Exhibit Hall. Bring a t-shirt from home and exchange it for someone else’s.  Leave a message or a prayer for the next owner of your shirt. Participate in the swap by visiting booth #731.

T-Shirt Swap Guidelines:

  • All t-shirt sizes are welcome!
  • If possible, choose a t-shirt that is unique — perhaps representative of your culture, state, or community. Or choose one with an inspiring message.
  • The t-shirt must be clean
    • Washed and not worn immediately prior to exchanging it
    • Must be stain-free and without holes, rips or tears
  • T-shirts with commercial, political or offensive content will not be accepted.  Booth staff may decline any t-shirt deemed to be inappropriate.

Hats and Trading Items

Crazy hats and trading items are a special NCYC tradition. Bring a hat and a trading item that best represents your group.

Here are some examples of trading items:

  • Button pins that represent your diocese
  • Holy Card of the patron saint of your parish or diocese
  • Rubber bracelet with diocese name
  • Keychains
  • Saint medals

Opportunities for Ministers

Ministry Training Source: Focus Groups at NCYC

Have you ever wondered if it is time for a big career change? Can ministry be be a long-term vocation as you try to balance your personal or family life with ministry?

Past research shows that being a ministry leader serving youth and/or young adults is quickly becoming a less sustainable career. When leadership constantly changes, youth and young adults become more vulnerable to leaving the church. We need YOU to help your fellow ministry leaders by sharing your experience.

As a thank you for your participation, you will receive a complete 6-session EQ Access learning module on Faith and Belief from EQ Saints.

Keys to Successful Ministry with Hispanic Catholic Youth:
Insights from a National Study with Dr. Hosffman Ospino

Dr. Hosffman Ospino from Boston College will formally release a report from his most recent study “National Study of Catholic Organizations Serving Hispanic Youth (2022)” at NCYC. He will speak about the keys to success in serving Hispanic Catholic young people and share a vision for leadership formation in light of research findings.

Ministers can listen to Dr. Ospino’s presentation during Breakout Session – Round B on Friday, November 11 at 1:30 PM in Room 204.

Participation Opportunities for Clergy

NCYC is a great way for priests, seminarians, and deacons to engage and interact with the young church. It is an opportunity for priests to celebrate the Eucharist, confer the sacrament of Reconciliation, and for seminarians and deacons to offer witness to young people the joy in your vocation.

A reminder that all clergy needs a letter of suitability and good standing to exercise their ministry at NCYC.
