OVERVIEW
COVID-19 is everywhere. Exposure is an inherent risk in any public location where people are present. NFCYM cannot guarantee that NCYC participants will not be exposed to COVID-19.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) advises that some people are more likely than others to become severely ill, and some people are at a higher risk with exposure to COVID-19. Potential NCYC participants and their families must evaluate the risk when determining whether to participate. People who show no symptoms can spread COVID-19 if they are infected, and any interaction with the public poses an elevated risk of being exposed to COVID-19. By coming to NCYC, participants acknowledge and agree to assume these inherent risks associated with attendance.
To help protect participants to the degree possible from COVID-19 infection, the following public health protocols are currently in place for events with more than 500 participants at the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center:
- Proof of vaccination or negative COVID PCR test within 48-hours of arrival or negative COVID rapid test results within 24-hours of arrival
- Facial coverings over the nose and mouth are required indoors, except when eating or drinking, or presenting on stage
- Denied access for those experiencing symptoms of COVID-19
Considerations for Group Leaders
Based on the COVID mitigation requirements in place as of February 1, 2022, group leaders will:
- Certify at on-site registration that all group members are either fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or have provided a negative PCR test result no more than 48-hours before arrival (within 24-hours if a rapid test is used).
- Conduct a daily health screening of their group members to identify, isolate, and treat anyone who may be feeling sick.
- Have a plan to isolate and care for group members who become ill during travel to or from or in Long Beach.
- Supply replacement masks for participants who lose or break theirs.
NFCYM reserves the right to amend these protocols based on local requirements and recommended best practices in place at the time of NCYC. For 2022, specific requirements will be announced on/about September 1.
