The 2025 NCYC Social Media Contest is an opportunity for high school students to showcase their creativity by crafting a fun and engaging commercial-style video about NCYC.

1. Eligibility:
- The contest is open to high school students over the age of 13.
- Participants must be enrolled in high school during the 2025-26 school year.
- Participants are eligible to participate regardless of whether they have previously attended NCYC.
- Participants must have a public Instagram account to enter.
- *Note: A teen can post their video on their guardian/parent or youth group’s account, if they prefer to keep their personal account private. Note that the prize will only be awarded to the individual teen.
2. Entry Requirements:
- Create a 30 to 60-second commercial-style video promoting the National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC), explaining why others should attend and what makes it a unique and impactful experience.
- Creatively demonstrate how NCYC is a journey toward personal growth and spiritual discovery using one of the following prompts.
- What advice would you share with someone preparing to attend NCYC for the first time?
- What would you tell a friend who has never heard of NCYC to encourage them to attend?
- What would you tell youth ministers as to why they should bring their young people to NCYC?
- Upload the video to Instagram with the hashtag #NCYCCommercialContest and tag @ncycofficial.
3. Contest Guidelines:
- Videos should be original and creative.
- Video must be recorded in vertical format
- Avoid content that may be considered offensive, inappropriate, or disrespectful.
- Do not use copyrighted music or materials without permission.
- Video must be posted on a public Instagram account with appropriate hashtags.
- Video caption should include the first name of the teen entering the contest. If the teen is chosen as a winner, NFCYM will reach out for more information.
- *Note: This contest is intended for new participants. NFCYM will not reimburse a winner for a previously purchased pass. The prize pass is transferable to another youth participant.
4. Judging Criteria:
- Creativity: How unique and innovative is the commercial in using sounds and imagery? (25%)
- Presentation: How well is the message communicated and the video produced? (25%)
- Prompt Incorporation: How creatively and effectively does the video incorporate/answer one of the prompts. (25%)
- Impact: How effectively does the commercial convey the benefits and excitement of NCYC? (25%)
5. Incentives:
- Grand Prize: One free ticket to NCYC, NCYC T-Shirt, have your video played during one of the general sessions, and access to the VIP lounge for a meet and greet with Catholic speakers and artists.
- Runner-Up Prizes: One ticket to NCYC for 2nd and 3rd place winners.
- *Note: The prize will only be awarded to the individual teen. If a teen is not joining a diocesan delegation or parish group, they must have a chaperone accompany them at NCYC. It is the teen and their chaperone’s responsibility to cover their own travel and accommodation expenses.
6. Entry Period:
- The contest begins on December 1, 2024, and ends on December 31, 2024.
- Entries submitted after the end date will not be considered.
7. Winner Selection:
- A panel of judges appointed by NCYC will review all eligible entries.
- Winners will be announced via NCYC’s official Instagram account.
8. Rights and Permissions:
- By entering the contest, participants grant NCYC the right to share and promote their videos on NCYC’s social media channels and website.
